UltraGoodness 2 and Thunderflash

UltraGoodness 2 and Thunderflash

A new month of gaming and a great week of games that we were able to review. Now that most of our staff is returning to the office, we can finally start cranking out reviews of games that we have codes for and need to have reviewed, so we were able with social distancing get two reviews done for two great games. The first game that we were able to review was UltraGoodness 2.  In this twin stick shooter, you and your cat are taking on the forces of evil and getting rid of them, a great shooter that love shooters and cats with special powers.  The second game that we reviewed was Thunderflash.  In this 80’s inspired shooter, you also take on the forces of evil but it is more of a throwback to games from the 80’s like Contra and Ikari Warriors.

As we said before time and time after again that twin stick shooter is a dime a dozen, which is true on the console market, another one that comes out feels that it will change the game.  Well in UltraGoodness 2 they decided to go into another route.  Instead of just being some random guy with different guns and special power ups, you are a random guy with an adorable cat by your side to help you fight off the hordes of evil trying to take over.  A run of the mill’s shooter, but still some fun factor, and as the game is updated with 4K graphics, it is a treat to see running in 60PFS.  More hardcore shooter fans may find this game a little easy but for those looking for a simple but fun shooter, be sure to pick this one up.  Read our thoughts and review here and watch some gameplay footage below of the game in action.

For many of us at Family Gamer Review was growing up, on Saturday mornings or anytime in the day, booting up the old Nintendo Entertainment System and playing couch co-op shooters like Contra, Ikari Warriors, and other great games.  The hours of playing co-op with a friend, or family member was such a great time.  Well in Thunderflash you get to relive out your old 80’s 2D shooter memories out again.  Thunderflash is a love letter to these old school shooters from this era.  With a couch co-op mode, multiple levels, weapons and other things that made 80’s shooters great is all here.  Again, a little simple for hardcore shooter fans out there but still a great addition to any digital library.  Be sure to read our thoughts and review here and watch some gameplay footage below of Thunderflash in motion.

As always be sure to check your console digital store for both UltraGoodness 2 (Xbox One Series X/S, PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch) and Thunderflash (Xbox One Series X/S, PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch) both games are available now.  Be sure to download these games and give it a try!
