UltraGoodness 2

A true battle of good and evil as you take on the hordes of evil trying to take over the world in this twin stick shooter, UltraGoodness 2. Did we mention that you trusted cat comes with you into the fight?

General Gameplay

UltraGoodness 2 is a twin stick shooter where, you go from level to level fighting off enemies, avoiding traps, collecting credits, and upgrading your weapons in game.  You have your trusted fur friend the cat helping you in your journey to fight off evil.  UltraGoodness 2 is all about running, gunning, and getting from one level to the next.  The Game Visuals are very bright and vivid on the screen while in motion.  The game seems very animated in its design from the main character, the cat, and enemies.  Backgrounds are considerably basic but to the point to its design from having theme-based objects for the levels, so if you are in a forest level, you will see objects that are in a forest, and so forth.  The game graphics are easy to see from the regular monitor to the Nintendo Switch screen and this makes it easy to see the action going on screen.  The game itself does not have a color-blind mode, however it is easy to see all the colors on the screen.  As the game is rated T – For Teen, the violence in the game is mostly animated in its design and it is fine for any gamers over the age of 10 to play the game.  In our playtesting, outside of the animated violence, we did not see anything offensive to gamers or the gaming family.  Audio in UltraGoodness 2 is a techno style of music for the game.  As you would expect to hear from a shooter from weapons fire, enemies firing back, explosions and other sounds are here and as they are basic in their sound form, they fit will for the game.  The techno style soundtrack fits well for a game like this as shooters are well known for soundtracks like this.  The game is presented in 5.1 surround sound as well 2.0 stereo sound, and both environments are fine to hear the game.  For gamers playing on the Nintendo Switch we highly recommend using a gaming headset to best enjoy the game music and sound.  In our playtesting, we did not hear anything that would be offensive to younger gamers to hear as the game is very family friendly for sound and audio.  Controls in UltraGoodness 2 are amazingly simple to use.  The game is very pick up and play friendly and easy to control.  The left thumb stick controls the character, as the right one is used to aim and fire.  There are two buttons used for your specials (grenades and an air strike) that recharge over time to be reused.  Once you purchase upgrades, you can change from the different firing styles that best fit the need during the game.  As the game a shooter in its nature its all about tight, fast, responsive control and UltraGoodness 2 has it.  In our playtesting we did not encounter any issues with the game controls, controller settings and found the game to be very family friendly.

Game Visuals Audio Controls

“UltraGoodness 2 is an old school top-down shooter that is simple, but fun to play. Just having a cat by your side alone is simple fun.  A great game for shooter fans to play!”

Family Friendly

When we first installed the game, we were just expecting just a basic shooter with little to no fun, and we were glad that we were wrong.  UltraGoodness 2 is a simple shooter, but it is a fun shooter once you get into the game.  The game is all about killing enemies and as the simple controls allow you to do this makes the game fun to play.  As you progress in the game you get credits from defeated enemies and you can use this to upgrade your weapons fire.  This is an additional strategy as later levels enemies will come at you from all directions.  The game can become a bullet hell at times on screen but nothing that is too hard.  There are 30 levels to play through and a last level for a boss fight, so there is a lot of gaming to do in this game.  UltraGoodness 2 for those that have the Xbox One Series X/S, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5 runs at 4K and at 60fps which is nice to see in action on the screen.  Overall UltraGoodness 2 is a simple and fun shooter to play for the whole family and should not be missed.  The only complaint that we had, and it’s a minor one is that the game can get really repetitive with its levels, but again it is a shooter so outside of this which is expected this is the only complaint that we have with the game.  In our special needs game testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game visuals, audio or with the controls, if anything the game is very special needs gaming friendly.  So, if you are a shooter fan or have someone in your gaming family that is a shooter fan, UltraGoodness 2 is a great addition to your digital library.
