AVICII Invector

Take a journey into the unexplored space in this rhythm-based music game based on AVICII work.

General Gameplay

AVICII Invector is a rail-based rhythm game where you go with the music on a rail and rack up your score to get to the top and beat the level.  Any gamers that have played the Guitar Hero or Rock Band series will be at home in this game.  The Game Visuals for AVICII Invector are very bright and vivid.  With a very futuristic look to the game overall visual designs, the game is more about using colors and flashes to showcase the game graphics. The design of your ship, the tracks, notifications and background are bright, well drawn and easy to see on the screen. As the game graphics are bright and easy to see the colors are also easy to make out and as the game does not offer a colorblind mode, it is not needed for the game.  In our play testing, we did not run into any issues with the game graphics or color during gameplay. Audio in AVICII Invector is one of the best aspects of the game.  As the game is a music-based game, the audio is where the game shines.  As the game showcases Avicii music catalog (25 tracks in the game from the late artist) throughout 6 worlds of levels in the game.  The music is the base place for each level as you must go with the rhythm of the music to complete the levels.  The game also has spoken dialog throughout the game from the main character where she narrates what is going on in the game.  The game background music, sound effects and all other sounds are done well and easy to hear in the game.  AVICII Invector is presented in both 5.1 surround sound as well 2.0 stereo and we highly recommend using either as the game audio is a joy to hear in either.  In our play testing, we did not hear anything offensive in the lyrics or the in game spoken audio in AVICII Invector.  Controls in AVICII Invector is very easy to control the game.  The left thumb stick controls the ship on the track where the face buttons are used to match onto the screen in the gameplay.  The left shoulder button is used to move around the track that is on a 360 rail.  The game controller setting is designed to make the game easy to control and for any gamer of any skill to be able to pick up and play without any trouble.  In our play testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game controller settings and the game is very special needs gaming friendly.

“AVICII Invector is wonderful in its design, controls and audio where this game shines the best at.  If you are a fan of Avicii, or even EDM/Dance music, this is a must play and have game”

Family Friendly

When this game was announced, everyone here at the office and staff was excited.  Most if not all here was big EDM dance music fans as well Avicii fans.  At the announcing of his passing, we knew that this game was going to pay homage to this great artist and his work, and the game does a fantastic job of allowing fans enjoy his music and a great game.  What makes this a great game is the minimalist approach to its gameplay.  When in the game you just must match the right controller button to the game and move forward.  The best part is that the music allows the gamer fan or not of his music enjoy a great soundtrack for the game.  While we were reviewing the game, we had some older gamers that are not used to the music style of gaming and they too enjoyed the game.  The game was not to hard to play as for those looking for a challenge, they can play the game on a harder difficulty and enjoy the game without worrying too much about the game getting harder.  If anything for those that want an easier game to play and enjoy, we would highly recommend this to most gamers.  There is so much that is family friendly to the game from its presentation, to the game soundtrack and even controls that we do not even feel that it should deserve a T – For Teen rating but more of a E10 rating.  For parents that are worried about the T – For Teen rating, we highly recommend watching gaming videos or online streaming of the game and decide for yourself.  Overall AVICII Invector is a great game to have for your digital library for any gamers in your gaming family.  One of the many fun aspects of the game is that it offers a local gameplay for up to 4 players to play one the same screen, this is a great game for parents and siblings to be able to play with each other to a great game with a great soundtrack.  The only complaint that we have is that we wish that there will be more DLC in the future for the game and that outside of the game being completed, there is not much gaming outside of getting a better score on the online leaderboards.  Overall this is a great game for any gamers in your gaming family.  In our special needs game testing, we did not have any issues with the game graphics, audio, or even the controls, if anything we fell that the game is special needs gaming friendly.

Closing

With a great soundtrack, controls and graphics, AVICII Invector is a great game.  The soundtrack alone from the artist is worth the play through and this is an overall great game for your digital library.
