General Gameplay

One Night Stand: Console Edition is an interactive story in which where you must make the best choices and do some investigation work to come to the best conclusion for your circumstances.  In the game you must make choices that best helps your narrative and without it making it a bad experience.

One Night Stand is a interactive game where you make choices and see how it plays out.  As the title states that it is all about waking up from a night of drinking and trying to figure out what happen.  There are multiple endings and based on what you choose it will lead to your ending.  The Game Visuals are presented in a rotoscope style where the graphics are very colorful and easy to see.  All the game graphics from the characters to objects are very easy to see on the screen.  The game is text based and the text is easy to read without any trouble.  As the game does deal with a mature matter there is some parts of the game where you would see things like a condom, clothing and other things that would be expected in a game setting like this.  As the game does not support a colorblind mode, the colors are bright enough to see on the screen.  In our playtesting, we did not run into any issues with the game visuals.  Audio in One Night Stand is very minimum.  There is background music throughout the game.  The sound effects for the objects in the game sounds accurate and match for the objects in game.  There is no spoken audio so there is no language in the game expect for the text that is shown in game.  The game music and audio fit well for the game and makes the game story come more alive.  The game is in a 5.1 surround sound and sounds great.  The game can be heard in a stereo setting and also works well.  In our playtesting, we did not encounter any issues with the game sound when playing the game.  Controls for One Night Stand is very easy to use.  The left thumb stick is to move the cursor and there is one button to make the choices.  The game in its nature is a point and click type of interface and it is very user friendly for anyone to play.  In our playtesting, we did not run into any issues with the game controls as they are very simple to use.  The game does not need a special controller and the default controller can be used for gameplay.

“On the surface, One Night Stand may look like a “talking simulator” however there is a lot of dept to the story and it is interesting how your choices play out.”

Family Friendly

When we received a review copy of the game, we here at the office at first were not knowing how to deal with a game like this.  Is it a story driven game, a “talking simulator” or just some weird game?  When we booted up the game and started to play, some game testers did not feel comfortable with the game nature about it being waking up from a one night stand and dealing with the game nature, however before you judge it based on the name, you are wrong.  One Night Stand is a very detail story in which what choice that you make has a consequence to it.  You can make good choices, bad choices and see it play out and the best part is that there are 12 different endings, so if you had a bad playthrough, you can go through it, learn from it and play the game with different choices.  One Night Stand is a game that also tells you more about yourself.  Are you a person of conscience or just someone that just wants to get out of Dodge really quick?  One of the fun aspects about the game was seeing couples play the game and see their love ones make choices.  This made it into an “interesting” topic here at the office to say the least.  Overall the game is a fun break from more interactive games out there and we highly encourage couples to play the game and see the choices that they make.  As the game is more of a mature game, we highly recommend that parents/guardians use caution to let any gamers under the age of 15.  We always recommend gamers to watch videos of the gameplay and come up with the best choices for your gaming family.  In our special needs game testing, we did not have any issues with the Game Visuals, Audio, or even controls.

Closing

If you are a fan of interactive story games or just more mature style of games, then One Night Stand is a great game.  It is aimed for more of a mature audience but this is a great game for couples to play.
