Steven Universe Save The Light

Save the day and the light as Steven and crew in this action/rpg based on the hit show on Cartoon Network.

General Gameplay

Steven Universe: Save The Light is an action/rpg hybrid in which you control Steven and two other characters from the show and go through levels that are from the Steven Universe cartoon series fighting enemies, going on quests from other characters from the show and restoring the light.  The game is a turn based in which you pick a character an attack/defense to use and fight the enemy till the fight is over, also you will be going on quests given from the characters from the show.  The Game Visuals are like playing the cartoon series itself.  Everything is like the show from the animation, backgrounds, items and everything else, the best way to describe it is like playing from the cartoon itself.  Everything from the characters, to background, to items, are all drawn just like the series and easy to see on the screen.  The game does not support a colorblind mode; however, it is easy to see all the colors on the gaming screen.  In our playtesting, we did not see anything that would be offensive to any gamers, as we said before it is like playing an episode from the tv series.  The Audio for Steven Universe: Save The Light is also well done.  As the visuals, the game audio is presented just like watching an episode.  The game does have spoken audio, but the best part of it is that the shows cast does the voiceovers.  Everything from the background music, to in game objects, and other audio ques are from the show itself.  As the game uses audio to tell the story, the voiceovers are fine for all ages.  As the game is based on the show, expect the type of dialog that you would hear from the show.  The Controls for Steven Universe: Save the Light are very gamer friendly.  As the game is an action/role playing hybrid style game, the game controls are set up with the left thumb stick moving the players, an action button for non-combat use, a button to go into Stevens backpack in combat or non-combat, and another button usage for combat selection.  The game control setup is very friendly for experience and non-experience gamers.  In our playtesting we did not see anything wrong with the controls and everyone in our testing group from the ages 9-65 were able to use the control setting without any problems.  There is no need for any special controller to play the game so you should be able to play the game with the standard controller.

“Steven Universe: Save the Light is a great action/rpg game that does everything right for a game also capturing the shows charm at the same time. This is a must have game for any Steven Universe fan”

Family Friendly

First off, I was not a Steven Universe tv show fan, till I personally started to play the game, and now I am a fan of the series because of this game!  The game does a fantastic job of capturing everything about the show and giving gamers a chance to play as some of the characters from the show itself.  With a great visual direction and voice over work from the shows cast itself, this is a must have game for any fan of the series, and the best part of this is that the game is a great game.  Now for those that are or are not fans of the series, the game has a decent action/rpg behind the showcase.  The game itself is around 12-16 hours of gameplay and the RPG (Role-Playing Game) element is fun to play as well easy for newer gamers that are not used to playing role-playing games.  The game is meant to be played by younger gamers but can be easily enjoyed by all gamers.  This is a great game for all ages and even if you are not a fan of the series or even watched an episode, this will make you one.  Rarely that you see a game that does this right and Cartoon Network does a great job making you feel right in the middle of the Steven Universe world.  Everyone in our testing group from all ages loved the game.  Even gamers that are not fans of the show will become one.  If there was a must have game for families to play, this is a game for you and your gaming family to have.  The only thing that was a minor complaint was that the game can drag in the story, but this was a minor issue and once you get past some harder fights the game goes back on track.  In our special needs game testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game graphics, audio, or even controls.  The game is very gamer friendly for gamers and non-gamers alike.
