Rock Boshers DX

Play as Queen Victoria as she is bored with life and escape from her enemies in this retro style shooter Rock Boshers DX.

General Gameplay

The game is a twin stick arcade shooter, where you go from level to level, fighting baddies, collecting power ups and going from there.  The Game Visuals are in an 8-bit style with 8-bit flare to it.  The game has bright colors to showcase the game itself and everything in the game.  Everything from Queen Victoria, to enemies, and background are all in 8bit flare but very clear to see both on the mobile screen also on Smart TV/Gaming monitor.  As the game is in 8-bit style, the game does not contain anything offensive to younger gamers to see.  Audio for Rock Boshers DX is also in its 8-bit style.  From the intro music, to background music, sound effects and everything else in the game are all done, well you guessed it in 8-bit style.  In our playtesting, we did not hear anything that would be bad for youngers gamers to hear.  If anything the game audio is very family friendly for all ages.  Controls for Rock Boshers DX are very friendly.  As it is a twin-stick shooter, the left one controls the character and the right one shooting.  There is an action button for switching guns and as the arcade games that you can unlock the controls for those game are also very easy to use.  In our playtesting, we did not have any issues with the controls or the settings.  The game controls were very easy for all ages to pick up and play.

“A great shooter, that can be fun but there are levels that are very hard to beat.   The arcade games included are great and fun to play.”

Family Friendly

First off, we here at the office are real big fans of Tikipod and all of their games and Rock Boshers DX is a fun game, hard but still fun game.  The game is a love letter to the original 80’s style of gaming and took everything that is right with that era of gaming and still kept the fun factor in the game.  From the graphics to the sound and even the controls the game gets it right.  A bonus is that there are other arcade games from Tikipod in this game are amazing and fun to play.  Again, I will be honest and tell you that the game can get hard at times and there will be multiple attempts on levels to progress, however do not let this be a detouring not to play the game.  If you have any gamers in your gaming family that get easily frustrated, best to let them try the game out first as it can get harder going into the game.  Now the controls are very easy to get used to and very tight as it should be for a twin stick shooter.  The only complaint that some of our gamers had was that it was hard to see on the mobile screen, but this was a very minor one and easily seen on a larger Smart TV or gaming monitor.  In our special needs game testing, there was no issues when it came to the game’s graphics, audio, or even controls.  If anything, the game was very family and special needs gaming friendly.

Closing

Rock Boshers DX is a well rounded, twin-stick shooter that fans of 80’s style of gameplay will love.  Hard but fun gameplay as well as great arcade games that can be unlocked are a must have reason to own this digital game.
