Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2

Play as our Cannoli loving Vinnie in this sequel where it takes places during WW2 and he is again in a whole lot of trouble in this action/shooter/platformer.

General Gameplay

As with the first game, it is all about platforming, running and gunning. However, in the sequel of the game Vinnie and company have more moves, levels, online play and more guns, gore, and replayablity!  The Game Visuals for Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 are amazing.  Everything from Vinnie, enemies, backgrounds, and objects are very detailed and easily seen on any size screen.  The game colors are very vibrant and easily seen on the monitor.  The game does not support a colorblind mode, however as the game is very vivid and bright there is no need for one.  In our playthrough there is gore in the game but more of an animated style as the game is rated T – For Teen but honestly it is not as graphic as it appears, we were able to allow our gamers ages 9-12 play the game and they were ok with the amount of gore on the screen.  However, we recommend parents/guardians to play or watch gameplay footage first before allowing younger gamers to play the game.  The game Audio is fantastic.  The game general sounds from background, soldiers, enemies, gunfire, zombies and other sounds sound well done, and the game audio dialog fits the game well.  The game has spoken dialog voice overs for the main characters, and in such there is some language used in the game storytelling.  However, in our playthrough it is equal to watching a PG-13 movie.  The game is presented in 5.1 surround sound and we recommend playing the game in such as the sound is so well done.  In our playtest, outside of the spoken dialog there were no problems with any of the sound in the game.  Again, the game is rated T, parents/guardians please review the game first before allowing younger gamers to play the game.  The Controls are a little advanced for some gamers but overall everything fits for the style of game.  The game in nature can be considered a “twin stick shooter” in its design of the left thumb stick moves the character and the right one is to aim the weapons.  Now one of the weird things about the game is the location of the jump button, it is assigned to the left trigger, where in most games it would be a face button (buttons like A, B, X, Y) but in this case after playing a couple of games the design works for a game like this. Some of more veteran platform or shooters fans may find the controller setup a little weird but trust us it works well for the game.  In our playtesting outside of the controller setup, there was no issues with the setup or gameplay at all.  The game does not need a special controller to play the game, so the standard controller is fine for the game.

“Take everything that was right with the first game, add more great gameplay elements to the game and you have one of the best platform/shooters out there!”

Family Friendly

The first Guns, Gore and Cannoli game was a blast here in the office and everyone loved the game.  The loved how it was a shooter/platformer and how the story flowed in the game with both platforming elements and shooting.  Even the voice acting is top notch in the game We here kind of nick named the game more like a Contra style game.  What Crazy Monkey Studios was taking what was right on the first game and added more to it.  With more weapons, a roll dodge, aim and shoot system that was reworked, it made the game a lot more fun, but what was the best aspect of the game was adding online play.  Local play is fun but having the ability to have up to 4 players at once online is what makes the game shine.  In our playtesting, every tester loved the game and the local 4-player co-op made the game a blast.  Now the animation is very clean but there are some violent scenes in the gameplay, however as the game is rated T – For Teen is should be played by any gamers 10 years and older.  Honestly this is one fun game that we have tested out so far this year, Crazy Monkey Studios did a great job on this game and is a must have for your digital library.  The only complaint that we got which is a minor one was how the jump button was the left trigger button.  Some of our more veteran platformer, shooter fans would have like it to be a face button but after playing a couple of levels it did prove to work out.  The game is just fun and if you have a shooter fan in your gaming family, this is a must have for them to play.  In our special needs game testing, outside of the jump button, the game graphics, audio and controls are perfect for any age gamer.  This game is also great for parents/guardians and teens to play as the co-op allows a lot of fun for all.
