Riddled Corpses Ex

Riddle Corpses EX is a twin stick shooter that has a retro style to it.  It is a two-player co-op in which can be played on the same screen.

General Gameplay

Riddled Corpses EX is a shooter at its core, but more of an old school shooter that you would see back in the 80’s and 90’s.  The game is all about shooting zombies, monsters, and other enemies that come at you.  You have no health bar but just lives that last from level to level, and the ability to stop time.  At the end of a level you will have a boss battle in which it will be a combination of a boss on screen in which it will shoot bullets and other projectiles at you.  Up to two people can play co-op on the same screen.  The game offers a story mode, endless waves and the ability to take the gold that you collect in the level to upgrade your character in between levels.  The Game Visuals are created in a 8-bit fashion.  Now before you think that this is a bad thing, it is not, the developers wanted to go for the old school look and it fits well for the game.  The game has colorful 8-bit graphics that are very clear to see and understand what is going on in the game.  Everything from the characters, enemies, objects and other things in the game are in 8-bit detail and give it a retro feeling.  As the game does not support a colorblind mode, the game does not need it as the colors are easily seen.  In our playtesting we did not run into any gore or heavy blood, however as the game is rated T for teen there is the amount of violence that you would expect from a game like this (however we feel that this is a great family game for parents and children to play, more on this in our Family Friendly section) The game Audio is consistent of midi style of music.  As the game is paying homage to more of the shooters from the 80’s and 90’s. Expect to hear the same with the grunts of enemies, weapons fire, to even the background music.  There is an original and a new soundtrack to choose from and what we can say that the background music pays homage to some classic shooters out there.  As the game does not have any spoken dialog as most of it is in text format, there is no offensive language.  The game is in 5.1 surround sound as well 2.0 stereo so gamers in your gaming family should be able to enjoy the game audio for any sound system.  Riddle Corpses EX controls are very easy.  As the game is a twin stick shooter, one thumb stick controls the character, and the other is to use to shoot your weapon in the direction of your choice.  There is a button used for stopping time, and another one to upgrade your weapon.  The game is designed to be simplistic in its control design, so gamers can play it without any trouble.  In our playtesting, we did not run into any issues with the controls for the game and most of the gamers that tested the game loved the controller setup.  The game does not need any special type of controller, so you should be ok.  PC gamers we highly recommend using a gaming controller for the game.

“Where Riddled Corpses EX shines as it brings back the old school style of shooters from the 80’s and makes it fun for anyone to pick up and play and enjoy”

Family Friendly

One of the joys of Riddle Corpses EX is that the game is just fun for those that are into old school shooters.  As the game has a Contra, or even any other Konami game from the 80’s in which two-players can play at the same time, which makes this game a great game to have in your digital library.  We will admit that the game is not an easy game, there is no regenerating health or a continue from the last spot that you died, this game is old school as it gets, but this gaming element is what makes the game fun.  Yes, you will die, a lot, but when you collect the gold that you need to upgrade your character, the game becomes less harder to play.  Now this makes the game fun for both adult and children to play as both people must play as a team to survive in the game, this allows both people to create a strategy in which works for success in the game.  Another great feature of the game is that it offers different modes, so this keeps the gameplay fresh.  Also another great thing about the game is that it offers different characters that you can choose from.  At first you can only use one, but with the gold that you get from the game you can use it to purchase and upgrade other characters that best suit your gaming style.  Now in our special needs game testing, we did not encounter any issues with the game graphics, audio, controller setting or anything else.  If anything the game was a great game for any special needs gamers.  The only complaint that we had was that for some gamers the game was very hard, however as it is designed to be like a 80’s-90’s style game this is understandable for our game testers that are 25 years and younger…lol
