Rain on Your Parade

Become a cute cloud and rain and ruin everyone’s day and help your friends in this wacky action platformer.

General Gameplay

Rain on Your Parade is a action/2D game where you play as a cloud, and as a cloud you rain on people ruining their day and help others while making new friends and enemies on the way.  The gameplay is in line with games like Donut County, and Untitled Goose Game in levels where you cause mischief and reach your goal.  The Game Visuals are done in a very vivid style of colors and cutouts to show the characters, and backgrounds.  As the game is told in a bedtime story, the game tries to mimic children vision of a magical world that the story is being told in.  All the visuals are clear and easy to see and the colors in the game are very bright and easy to see on the screen in motion.  As the game does not support a colorblind mode, however it is not needed as the colors are extremely easy to see on the screen during gameplay.  In our playtesting, we did not encounter anything that would be offensive to gamers 8 years and older.  Audio in Rain on Your Parade is a chippy happy tune of background music for the different levels in the game.  The background music is in a happy tone for each of the 50 levels that you play as well fits for each level.  There are standard sounds that you will hear in the game from people grunting, explosions and other surprise sounds that are in the game.  The game audio is well done and all sounds and music fits well for the game, and its special levels.  As the game story is told both in text and in voice over, in our playtesting we did not hear anything offensive in our playthrough.  Controls in Rain on Your Parade are extremely simple.  The left thumb stick moves the cloud around as the controller face buttons are used to rain and other abilities as you progress in the game.  The controls work well and are very responsive during gameplay.  As the game requires fast response from the controller, Rain on Your Parade does a great job of doing this for the console.  As the game is a more of an action/platformer, there is no need for a special controller to play the game and a standard controller for the PC or the console.  In our playtesting, we did not encounter any issues with the game controller settings or general gameplay.

“Rain on Your Parade is such a fun and simple game where you go and rain on everyone and just cause havoc throughout the game.  Fans of games like Untitled Goose Game, and Donut County will absolutely love this game.  A must have title for your digital library.”

Family Friendly

Rain on Your Parade is a game where you are both the villain and the hero, and before you think that you play as a bad guy, its really not the case here.  As a cloud you are tasked to rain on everyone and everything, but that is not a bad thing.  Yes, you start off on raining on people from a wedding, to parties, and the beach, but as you go along you help people and characters that you meet on the way.  So in ways you are helping.  Rain on Your Parade has over 50 levels of gameplay so there is a lot to do in this game from just raining on people to special stages that are taking from inspirations from famous video game series where you must do specific tasks to complete the levels, we will not spoil it but it was a nice addition to the gameplay and seeing how the developers took care and time to showcase their love of these beloved series being added to the game.  As you go through the game you get new abilities and as these abilities are fun to use it gives a lot of replay value to Rain on Your Parade as it allows you to go back to previous levels and try out new abilities and see what more that you can do.  Once you beat the game, Rain on Your Parade has a new game plus mode where you can go back to each level and earn more starts by doing more things to the people and objects in the levels, this alone is worth going through the game.  We will tell you this, if you are a fan of games like Untitled Goose Game, Donut County and other open world wreak havoc style of games then you will be right at home with this great game.  Rain on Your Parade is a fun game period, a fun game for all ages, just the ability to commit juvenile antics and have fun in the process is worth the price of admission.  This is a fun game for the whole family to play and fun for all ages.  The graphics are fun to watch, music is fun to listen to and the controls are extremely easy to pick up and play, the in-game humor alone is worth a playthrough.  The only complaint that we had, and this is such a minor one was that some levels were challenging to earn the stars without retrying several runs through the level itself, but this is a welcome challenge as it makes you more invested into the gameplay.  Overall if you or anyone in your gaming family is a fan of games like this, you should pick this up.  In our special needs game testing, we did not find any issues with the game visuals, audio, or the controller settings, if anything the game is very special needs gaming friendly.

Closing

Rain on Your Parade is a fantastic game where you cause havock on people by raining on them and other antics.  With lots of levels, great gameplay modes, abilities, and other surprises, this is a must have game for your digital library.
