I, AI

I, AI is a classic top-down shooter with more modern graphics.  The story is about the AI becoming self-aware and trying to escape the evil station from letting you leave and escape their territory.  With 20 levels, powers ups, and a light skill tree upgrade system, I, AI is a great shooter.

General Gameplay

I, AI is a straight-out shooter where you go from waves of enemies’ ships fighting your way to the end of the level to either trying to stay alive against a boss battle or multiple waves of enemies.  In the game you earn credits towards upgrading your ship from upgraded weapons, to shields and other power ups that will help you survive in the game.  The Game Visuals are very well done and easy to see the game in motion.  As you would expect in the game, detail in both your ship as well as enemies, the background and weapons fire in the game.  The game colors are presented in more cooler colors with more blues, browns, blacks, light, and dark greys and at times depending on the background, you will see more lighter colors for the space or the bullets that are fired at you from enemies.   The colors are quite easy to see and as the game does not offer a colorblind mode, it is not needed as the game graphics and colors are sharp enough to see on the screen.  There are some moments of fast flashing but nothing serious enough for any gamers to see during gameplay.   In our playtesting, we did not encounter any issues with the game graphics and found the game graphics to be very family friendly.  Audio in I, AI is exceptionally clean and easy to hear.  The game sounds that you would hear from weapons fire, defeated enemies and your ship are quite easy to hear, and fit well into the game.  The story of I, AI is told via audio but there is minimum spoken dialog in the game.  The background music is very minimum but works well into the game.  I, AI is presented both 5.1 surround sound as well in 2.0 stereo sounds and format the game sounds well.  In our playtesting we did not hear anything that would be offensive to younger gamers to hear in the gameplay.  Controls in I, AI are amazingly simple, the right shoulder button is used to fire your primary weapon, where the face buttons are used for special weapons fire.  The left thumb stick is used to move the ship around.  The game control design is for anyone to pick up and play the game without any trouble.  The game controls well and amazingly fast on the response time for the ship to move and fire, this is important as shooters and the controls must be on point and in I, AI the game does a great job of this.  In our playtesting, we did not run into any issues with the game controller settings.  As the game was tested on the console, the standard controller that you use is fine to play the game.

“With great graphics, controls, enemies and boss battles, I AI is a fast-paced space shooter that should not be missed, a must have for any space shooter fans out there!”

Family Friendly

I, AI was an interesting game to review, as the game just like countless shooters out there is in a crowded market where games like this can get lost in the marketplace.  Well let us tell you that this is a game not to miss! First off, the game is quite easy to pick up and play I, AI.  The games controls are easy to use in the game and as this is a shooter, tight, and fast controls are important for the game.  The graphics are great to see in motion and everything in the game has detail where it feels like a AAA game.  The general gameplay is not to hard or easy, so as you get better on each level, so does the difficulty where it gives you a challenge but not making itself too hard to play.  As you can earn in game credits from each level the skill set tree has enough dynamic upgrades to fit your playstyle and play the game like you wish.  The upgrades and levels are unique enough where the game feels fresh from level to level and boss battles are where the most fun part of the game is.  I, AI is a great shooter for any fans of shooter or even non shooter games.  The only complaint that we had was there is a lot of times to get the necessary upgrade/power-up you have to multiple grind the same levels repeatedly to get enough credits to get that power up.  Now this is not a game breaker but for those that are planning to pick this up, keep in mind that later levels will need your ship to be more powered up to have a chance against tougher enemies.  If you or anyone in your gaming family is a fan of top-down shooters or just space shooters, then I, AI is a great game for your digital library.  In our Special Needs Game Testing, we did not run into any issues with the game visuals, audio, or graphics.  I, AI is special needs gaming friendly.

Closing

With fantastic graphics, controls, and gameplay, I, AI is a great top-down space shooter to own.  This is a great game that you should have for your digital library.
