Far Cry 6

Take on El Presidente of Yara and his corrupt regime as a freedom fighter in this open world shooter that is from the famous Far Cry series. Fry Cry 6 is the latest installment of the survival, open world shooter whereas Dani you help Libertad overthrow the dictator from power of the country. With a very large country to explore from land, sea, and in the air, this is the biggest Far Cry map to date.  Lots of first-person action from hunting, fishing, fighting enemies and more content, this is one of the most diverse Far Cry in the series.

NOTE: As the game deals with different types of content from slavery, murder, suicide, killing of animals, drug use, transgender insults and other materials, this may be a game that may trigger some individuals. Please take caution before playing the game. We strongly recommend that you view footage of gameplay and read our review and other articles before playing Far Cry 6. This is not a reflection of the game being a bad game, however more geared towards mature audiences of gamers.

General Gameplay

As with any of the Far Cry series, you play as a nobody and become a hero in the series. In this series the same is going on but your character Dani has a larger sandbox to play in. From different types of missions, racing, hunting, and collecting USB sticks with music and getting supplies for your bases, there is a lot to do in the game.  The Game Visuals in Far Cry 6 are very detail. From the different parts of Yara each having its own unique look and feel, to the open islands and water, weather, and even terrain, all of which looks fantastic when in game.  The characters and animation are well done, and all of the characters all have their own expressions and each character design that brings the game to life.  The backgrounds and weapons also have a distinct look and feel unique when viewing them. The game does an overall fantastic job in its graphics and presentation. All of the cut scenes are well done and match the game design.  The game in its menu option offers a colorblind mode for gamers that suffer from a different colorblind status and allows you to adjust the colors to match your viewing style. As the game runs in 4K and at 60 FPS the flow of the game is well done and runs smooths on the console, those that are playing the game on a gaming PC, depending on your setup the game even looks and runs better. As the game is a Mature rated game, expect to see a lot of mature content from violence against human enemies, killing of animals and other things that are associated with things that are in the Far Cry series, so we highly recommend this game to be played by more of a mature audience that is over the age of 16 and over.  Audio in Far Cry 6 is also done very well done. Everything from the in game spoken dialog, background music, weapons fire, licensed music, and ambient sounds within the game are done well to match and fit the game. The character dialog and voice casting are top notch and done very well. From Dani speaking in the game, you get sucked into her/his (depending on who you go with at the beginning of the game) dialog, and the character helps bring the story to life. Even El Presidente and other characters dialog is unique, and their presentation helps brings the story to have more drama in their acting. The in-game music while driving, flying, or at sea in a vehicle has its feel that it belongs in the game. The sounds from the areas that you explore in the game have their unique sounds that matches the area and separates each area to have its own unique sounds. Even the animals, enemies, and non-playable characters have their own feel to bring to the story and game. The game is presented in both 5.1 surround sound as well 2.0 stereo sounds and either sound environment that you decided to play in is fine, but we highly recommend that you play this game in the 5.1 surround sound or in a great gaming headset. As the game is Mature rated game, there is a lot of language both in English and Spanish and some other language used to tell the story but outside of this, we did not hear anything that would be too offensive to gamers. If anything, think of the game as if you were viewing a movie and the language that you would expect from a movie about a resistance movement trying to overthrow a dictator. Controls in Far Cry 6 are done well for anyone that can pick up and play the game without any trouble. As the game is a first-person shooter the controller setup is designed to match these types of gaming. The game does a fantastic job of making it easy to drive, fly and operate anything that you come into contact with. The game controller is tight and very responsive to control. From accurate aiming with a rocket launcher, sniper rifle or any other weapon, Far Cry 6 is very easy to control.  In our playtesting, we did not encounter any issues with the game controls and founds the games controls to be very special needs gaming friendly.

“With a large map, lots of unique missions, weapons, and a fantastic story, Far Cry 6 is a game that should not be missed and a must have game for any first-person shooter, story or Far Cry  fan to have”

Family Friendly

First off, we want to say that Far Cry 6 is one of the best Far Cry games in the series.  This game offers everything that makes the Far Cry series fun.  From a great story, loveable characters, and characters that you will hate, great gun play, lots of missions, different hunting and fishing options and other things that makes an open world game fun.  The main character Dani (he/she is depending on who you go with at the beginning of the game) is a fun and loveable character to play as.  The characters have a great deal of dept to their emotions and environments that they are around, even the non-playable characters are going about their daily lives and don’t skip a beat.  The game environment also is a very diverse.  Yes, the setting is on a tropical island, however this is very different as each region has its own specific look and feel that makes the island and areas very unique in its own setting.  From farming areas to the capital and fishing villages, Far Cry 6 makes the areas feel very unique from the enemies to people that are in the area.  This allows the game to be more diverse in its mission structure and going from region to region.  Another thing that makes Far Cry 6 fun is that the collectables that you can obtain.  As you liberate locations from enemy bases, checkpoints, and other locations, they will offer supplies that you can use to upgrade your camps, as well as use in special assignments for your crew that you obtain throughout the game.  These upgrades allow you to get better intel on hunting locations, small camps that you can start off at, more unique gear and so on.  As you go more throughout the game these camps and missions will be vital to the game and your progression of your character as you travel from location to location.  One of the many fun parts of the game is the special treasure hunts and hunting that are available in the game with most of them rewarding you with both unique items/gear/weapons. These breaks in the game allow you to take a break from going from target to target and go off and try new things in the game. These events are fun and as most of them don’t have any engagement in the events they are a great distraction from the general game.  Another great addition to the game is amigos that accompany you during the game.  These amigos help your character with their different abilities and depending on your playstyle they can help tremendously with the way you take on El Presidente troops. As you go into the game the vast majority of weapons that you can acquire can be crafted into the style that you play as.  So, for an example, if you are more into long distance combat, you can build your weapons sets to longer scoops and other attachments that help you with this playstyle. The collectables and resources that you obtain are used at workbenches to help you upgrade your weapons. Speaking about weapons upgrade, in the game you have a Supremo weapon that has a special skill that you can use in the game. For example, there is one that allows you to use an EMP blast around your character that disables all enemy vehicles, this is extremely useful when facing off against helicopters and tanks in the game. As Far Cry 6 has everything that makes a great open world game fantastic, there are some aspects to the game that may be upsetting to others with the content in the game. Far Cry 6 is a game that is story driven, a story that deals with a freedom fighter fighting along side with other freedom fighters to overthrow a dictator. There are lots of the story elements that may be triggering to some gamers, topics like violence towards young people, killing of animals, drug and alcohol use, strong language, slavery, experimentation on humans, and other mature themes throughout the game. This is something that we advise parents and other gamers that may find these topics to be too much to watch video of gameplay and read reviews about the game before purchasing Far Cry 6. As we said before that these elements do not make this a bad, if anything the story that is in the game that involves these topics help tell a story of what is going on in the game and why your character is driven to make change. As with most M rated titles that are story driven, topics like this are now more of a common thing and Fry Cry 6 does a great job of making the material work to tell the story and not overuse it just for shock value, again we highly recommend that you do some video viewing of the game story cut scenes on youtube.com and see for yourself.  Overall Far Cry 6 is a fantastic game that is done well. The gameplay is solid and fun from beginning to end, with great gunplay, activities to do throughout the game. Story is well done with great voice acting and great soundtrack that makes the game feel alive. This is a fantastic game for anyone that is a fan of first-person shooters, sandbox games, or even gamers that love a great story driven game.  In our special needs game testing, outside of the concerns about the content, there were no issues found in the game visuals, audio, or even controls. The game is very special needs gaming friendly.

Closing

In closing, Far Cry 6 is a fantastic game that must be played.  With a great story, controls, overall gameplay and lovable characters, this is the best Far Cry in the series.  As the game does have some sensitive content that the game deals with, but outside of this, Far Cry 6 is a game that all Far Cry fans or shooter fans must have in your digital library.
