Tetraminos

TCVR

Tetraminos is a “Tetris” style of game that gives it a multiplayer mode and some new shapes, but the game is still a Tetris game in the end.

General Gameplay

Well, it’s Tetris, and it is a Tetris game that does have a 4 player multiplayer that is both online and offline as well.  The game is broken down to challenges, puzzle solving and an endless mode.  The modes itself are the same as other Tetris modes out there from other games.  What sets this game different is that some of the shapes that come down the level are different from other game shapes and this does add a dynamic to the game itself in which how you get the rows to match.  Other than those features there is nothing else that this games does to set itself apart.

Audio

There is not much to the game in terms of audio.  There is a female voice that comes on to let you know that the level is complete, other than that there is nothing else when it comes to audio.  This is where the developer Sanuk Games could have knocked it out of the park, games that are Tetris with an easy gameplay would have benefited from a great soundtrack to keep the gamer engaged in the game, however there is no game music. So if you are looking for a music, or the option I am sorry to say that there is none.

T2Visuals

This is where the game has issues, first off the game has a graphic of a grid when you are trying to place the piece on the level, and this becomes distracting for players.  In our testing with our family gaming members, they too found this very distracting when playing the game.  Some even were not able to place the piece into the correct location, causing frustration with the testing and the gamers.  Also without any way to change the colors it makes it harder to see from the background and also for our color blind challenged gamers.  As this being a Tetris based game, the game visuals look bland and most of the family gaming testers honestly did not see anything that would want them to say “wow” that is cool or even something that stood out.

Controls

The controls are the only thing that is right, but this is a Tetris game so the controls are simple in the first place.  Again in our play testing that we did see some “miss-drops” happen in our game.  We thought that it was due to player error but it was due to the game itself.  As there is no controller issues but the game, there are some levels where the controls response are a little “laggy”.  This was tested with both a wire and wireless controller and different consoles as well.

Delivery

The game does not deliver any fun what so ever.  With broken design, sound, and even suspecting control, this is a game that fails to even be a fun Tetris game.  The only thing that the game has going for itself is that it has a 4 player party mode, however with all types of issues I wonder how fun would this game mode even be online via other online players.

T1Family Friendly

This is not a family friendly game, the game core mechanics are broken, there is no sounds to the game, the levels and design are boring and not even engaging to anyone to continue to play.  This would be a title to pass as there are other Tetris style of games out there for your digital library and family to play.  The game itself is not special needs friendly or eve family friendly with its bad levels, sound, and questionable control this one that you will not miss having in your library.

Closing

Is Tetraminos a Tetris style game, yes?  Is it a fun Tetris style game, no, and this is the reason why we cannot recommend this game to you and your gaming family.
