Castle Invasion: Throne Out

Castle Invasion is a tower defense style of game in which you have an archer that has to defend the castle against 50 waves of hordes from attacking the castle.  You have different weapons and abilities that you can purchase to help you defend the castle.

General Gameplay

As with most tower defense games the controls are set to be very basic.  With moving up and down, fire and change your weapon, Castle Invasion is designed to be very easy pick up and play for anyone to get into.

Audio

As you would expect with a tower defense game the sounds are very basic, however to the game design very entertaining.  As there is no spoken dialog, the game has a charming way to present the audio ques that you would hear to be appropriate for all ages. We did not through our play test hear anything that would be offensive to any gaming family members.  However the game is not in 5.1 surround sound and that gamers that use headphones have no worries about the sound being too loud for anyone for extended play.

Visuals

Castle Invasion visuals are basic but to the point. You can clearly see the games hero as well the enemies without any trouble, the backgrounds are basic but there is not too much needed for a game like this. As the game is a tower defense type of game the visuals match the settings of the game.  Parents a note to know as there is nothing offensive in any of the games visuals or any type of special equipment needed to play the game.  The game does not have a colorblind mode, however as the graphics and colors are easy to see there is no need for it.

Controls

To be honest here the controls are very easy to pick up and play for anyone.  With just a few buttons to be used in the game it is easy for anyone to play Castle Invasion.  During our playtest, we did not see any issues with any of our gaming family members to play this game.  As stated before that the game is design to be very pick up and play friendly.  Also there is no need for any type of special controller to be used to play this game.

“Castle Invasion: Throne Out is a nice tower defense game that does not take itself seriously, but there is not enough here to hold even the general gamers attention”

Delivery

With any tower defense games out there, there are different levels of managing that comes to it.  Castle Invasion is designed to be more of a started style of tower defense game where it does not overwhelm the gamer with knowing different classes or even going into micromanagement of items or units.  In its core it is more of a started style of tower defense game.  So if you are in the market for a very kid’s friendly tower defense game then Castle Invasion is a good starter game to have in your digital library.  With that being said that this game is more aimed for people that do not regularly play tower defense games.  For those that want more of a challenge and more managing then this may not be the game for you.

Family Friendly

We feel that Castle Invasion is a kid’s friendly game as it does not have any extreme violence (other than you shooting arrows, spears, ect… towards your enemies), language or anything offensive to your gaming family.  It is meant to be a relax type of game to play by younger games, but with simplicity comes some compromise.  As the game is a basic tower defense game, some gamers may get bored with the game not having too much depth.  Also as this is a game that is aimed to be towards beginners of tower defense games it did get repetitive for some gamers as it was the same formula of gameplay wave after wave.  If you are planning to pick up this game, we recommend that it should be for gamers that are new to tower defense games and want a more relax challenge, for the more hardcore tower defense gamers in your gaming family they may just simply get bored of the basic offerings of the game.  In our special needs testing of the game, we did notice that the game was enjoyed by all of our special needs gaming family.  So parents of family gaming members with special needs, you may want to pick this game up as it is very easy to pick up and play.
